  1. Great interview and it further galvanizes my position about Mr. Blagojevich. If his boasted accomplishments in the areas of health care and social services are true then those are certainly admirable achievements. However, those achievements are not a license to exploit his office and his power for financial gain, if in fact, the allegations against him are true. What I find irritating and dishonorable is his decision to thumb his nose at the clearly defined procedures the Illinois legislature set forth to determine his fitness to continue in the office of Governor. If his protestations of innocence were sincere, he owed it to his constituents to suffer the pains of the process, to fight vigorously and within the rules in the defense of his innocence and to have faith in the body of elected officials charged with the responsibility to make a fair and honest determination of guilt or innocence. Furthermore, his incessant media blitz, book tour, etc. IN ADVANCE OF HIS TRIAL dishonors the judicial process and, in my opinion, betrays his belief that the court of public opinion is superior to the court of law.

Was he engaging? Yes. Was he a good sport? You bet. Did he give the impression of being a guy with whom you'd want to sit down and have a burger? Sure. That just makes him that much more of an old-school, backslapping politician and a guy with something to hide.
